Each-Way Calculator: What Your Bet Really Pays

Work Out Any Each-Way Bet

How the Maths Works

€10 each-way is two €10 bets (total €20). The win part pays full odds; the place part pays the odds divided by the place terms (1/4 or 1/5). At 8/1 with 1/5 terms: a win returns €10×8 + €10×1.6 plus both stakes back — €116; a place-only returns €26, a €6 profit on the €20 outlay. The break-even point for the place part alone is odds of 4/1 at 1/4 terms or 5/1 at 1/5 — below that, "placing" still loses money overall, which is the most misunderstood fact in each-way betting.

Rule 4, Built In

If a horse is withdrawn after you bet, a Rule 4 deduction (5p–90p per euro, by the withdrawn horse's odds) comes off winnings — not stakes. Set the slider to see the real payout after a deduction.
